Return Policy

Vintage Items:
We do not accept returns on vintage clothing. Please know what it means to buy vintage. While we fastidiously hand-select all of our vintage, remember that it is pre-worn. Vintage is never perfect, but no substandard vintage will be found on our site.

New Goodies:
We do not accept returns for cash unless we unwittingly, grossly misrepresent an item. If we send you the wrong item, or the error in describing the item is on our part, we will refund your order promptly.

Change your mind?
Should something be different than what you had in mind, whether it be the fit or color or you simply do not like it, we will issue store credit for your return, less shipping costs. We will take it back within 5 days of confirmed delivery. The item must be in the condition in which it was sent to you, unworn, in its original packaging and with all tags attached to the garment as it was originally sent to you. The postmark must be made within 5 days of receipt. After receipt and inspection of the returned item, and only after it is found in unworn and satisfactory condition we will submit a store credit only. A 5% restocking and convenience fee will be subtracted from the credit.

Orders outside the USA will have 10 days to inspect and return for a store credit less shipping and 5% restocking and convenience fee.

Damaged Items:
We take numerous photographs of items and go over every item with a fine-toothed comb before sending it out. We keep all photos on record should any dispute arise as to the condition of the item before it leaves our company. There is no restocking or convenience fee for damaged goods. We will send a full refund should our photographs be conclusive with your declaration of damage we will replace the item with one in good shape. If we can't replace it, we will send you a full refund.

After the respective time allowance for returns, a credit will not be issued.

Shipping costs are not refundable on returned items.

The following are guidelines to ensuring your happiness with our garments:

Read the product descriptions closely and carefully. Everything you need to know about an item is listed.

Know your size. Take measurements and email us if you have any doubts or questions. We are here to help ensure that your experience with us is a positive one.

Understand that we are a small company. Actually, it's owned and operated by one woman. I will do everything in my power to make certain your buying experience is a fabulous one.

What's the deal with this policy?

As you know, vintage items have a long history. These garments have seen countless eras, countless closets and known countless owners. It is inevitable that some of our vintage items will carry imperfections. Fortunately, vintage clothing was made in a time where quality fabrics and workmanship were first considerations in the garment industry. It's a miracle that these garments have survived (many over fifty years), in the impressive shape that we see them in today. However, given their age and their long history, common sense tells us that they are going to carry some signs of that history. We are fair and thorough here at Ancient ChineZe Secret, and undetected MAJOR flaws are not usual.

For new items, we understand a change of heart, that is why we will issue you a credit if you decide to return an item. Your credit never expires, so you may use it at any time.

Obviously, if we send you a damaged item, we will replace the item with one in good shape. If we canÕt replace it, we will send you a full refund.

We sell vintage with 'acceptable' wear

That means, once you get your item, it won't smell like mold, it won't have giant holes, and you should not discover any flaw that was not mentioned in the item description. Please take into consideration that you are buying used clothing. Should you discover a small flaw that we may have overlooked, it is not an acceptable reason to ask for a refund. Again, KNOW what vintage means, and take into consideration the possibility of a small, overlooked flaw. We will, of course, do all that we can to keep you apprised of the condition and appearance of the garment to the best of our ability, so that you can make a well-informed purchase.

As a rule, we do not clean, dry clean or alter clothing before we send it out, unless an item reaches us seriously dirty or in obvious need of reparation. Only then will we take care of it before the item gets posted onto our site. So please take this into consideration when wearing clothing directly from the package. This keeps the cost of our items lower than if we were to try to restore them to perfect. If we were to send everything out for alteration or dry cleaning, this would greatly reflect in our item cost, and we would prefer not to pass the extra costs on to you. You can be the judge whether or not you want to clean the item. Rest assured, we will never send you anything 'dirty' or gravely flawed.

And we do. We rate our clothing so you have an even clearer idea of its shape. (See our rating key below for reference).

GARMENT RATING KEY

Mint new or deadstock with original tag(s).

Fabulous no signs of use, like new, could possibly have been worn once or twice.

Great no flaws or problems to note. General, expected wear.

Good may have a minor spot or seam tear or problems which will be mentioned in the description. General, expected wear.

As Is well-worn items that are still really amazing, but in need of reparation. Things that a seamstress or someone who would like to take the time to restore it would want. Once restored, it will probably be as amazing as it was once.

Poor We don't sell that stuff here.

No matter what condition we rate any item, please know what it means to buy vintage. These are used items with a past.

Does it fit?

Before you think about buying something, know if it fits. Please use measurements when purchasing our garments, the chart below is just a general guideline translated into today's sizing labels. Vintage garments were sized differently than our garments today, so, please measure yourself, and compare your measurements to the measurements given in each item description. please be sure to give yourself some room when measuring yourself if you are thinking of purchasing a garment, e.g., if your bust is a size 32 c, and our garment has a bust size of 32", this garment will not fit you. you probably need the bust size to be about 33". Please understand that we provide you with all the information about the item that we can find, including flaws and specific sizing, as our items are not returnable unless we grossly misrepresent them. We provide this information so that our buyer can buy with confidence. We measure all our garments at the shoulder, under the arms (the bust), the waist, at the hip, we measure the sleeve length, the overall length of the garment from SHOULDER to hem, and in the case of pants, we will measure the inseam and the hem diameter (so you know if it's a bell bottom, straight leg, or to what degree they flare). All sales are final. We do not give refunds or credits for items if they don't fit, and we cannot take an item back because you measured yourself inaccurately, or because you did not fully read the item description.

Please note: all of our items have been shaped to fit our models and mannequins for photographic purposes. Please go by the reported measurements of the piece to determine if the item will fit your measurements. Do not determine by the photo the measurements of any garment.

How to measure

The best way to measure is using a cloth measuring tape. Measure your bust, your waist, your hips and your inseam. You may also want to measure your arm and leg length. Please allow a little extra room when comparing your measurements to ours. If your bust is 32", you will not fit our 32" busted dress. You probably need at least a 33". So, use sound judgment.

bust: with your arms relaxed, measure around the fullest part of your chest.

waist: measure around your natural waistline, keeping the tape a bit loose.

high hip: measure around the fullest part of your body (usually at the top of your legs) and approximately 4 inches below your natural waist.

low hip: measure around the fullest part of your body (usually at the top of your legs) and approximately 8 inches below your natural waist.

Inseam: measure at the crotch to the ankle

Pants length: measure from the outside of the waist, along the hip, to the ankle

Sleeve length: measure from the rounded part of the shoulder, to the wrist
